One of my favorite portraits is of Sharbat Gula, a Afghan girl taken in 1985. This photo was taken by Steve McCurry for National Geographic magazine. I like this photo because of the great intensity of her eyes, and the contrast her eyes bring to the picture.
Another portrait I like is by Edouard Boubat. I like this photo because of how calm the boy looks as he relaxes and listens to the noise of the shell. Edouard Boubat was know for taking photos that showed peacefulness.
The next portrait I like is by Angus McBean. He was known for taking photos of theatrical plays. The photo I like the most by him is of Vivien Leigh. This photo was made into a postage stamp before he died in 1990.
My next favorite portrait is by Francesco Scavullo. He was known for some of his controversial works, but this photo is my favorite of his because of the innocent appearance of the girl. Her young face and her big eyes bring out a sense of freshness and purity.
My next favorite portrait is of Audrey Hepburn, and it was taken by Phillipe Halsman. Phillipe Halsman took a variety of portraits where celebrities were jumping. This one was my favorite because the photo brings out a sense of happiness and excitement.
